Hey You!

Yes, you. I have a serious case of blog envy. Some of you have hundreds, no thousands of readers. Some of you have dozens of people commenting on your sites. I read. I comment. I am a good little blogger. But I still haven’t cracked a measly 1000 readers! emoticon

Do I suck that badly? Am I that boring? I know, I know. It’s not about the numbers. It’s not about the subscribers. God knows it’s not about the bling. Not getting any of that either!!!!

To those of you dear readers who do come and visit me, I value and appreciate you a great deal. BUT I NEED MORE! More, I tell you. So please, those of you who ‘have’ it. How do I ‘get’ it? What is ‘it’? More importantly, WHY DO I CARE? I should just get over myself and be content to blab away about nothing. So be brutally honest. What am I doing wrong? What could I be doing differently?

*Perhaps I could offer a bribe?*

In the meantime, I’ll sit here and sob into my wine. Please, don’t concern yourself at all. I have suffered bigger blows to my ego. Really.

Thank you, and goodnight.

  1. Shite, blog envy, I used to have that. I nearly shut my humble little load of rottweiler leftover down so many times it ain’t funny.

I can’t see why you don’t get a larger readership. Your blog is witty, easy to read and good value.

I’ll bung you on my blogroll and that should get the evils of the coven visiting you.

Keep doing what you’re doing, ’tis good.

  3. you are a great writer Tracey…and I agree with Anja .It took me a long time to get readers.I am no expert by any means .I still work hard at it.
Depends who you are blogging for too - I blog for me and a little for my readers too. Yes, we all want company in this gig.
I started doing a few big memes and visited lots of other bloggers.I made sure I returned all visits and commented. I have a few regulars now I know.
It gets discouraging sometimes - hang in there.

  9. PS. I see your posts say “uncatergorised”. If you add some tags you should get some more readers. Think that is how random people find your blog.:)

  10. I went through a phase of being swept up in the stats and everything and I found that it didn’t help at all. We don’t know how many people read your blog and frankly it doesn’t matter - concentrate on the readers you have and keep writing. Soon your readership base will expand.

Don’t let the stats and numbers sway you - I’ve seen a few bloggers get all caught up in that stuff and their quality and quantity of posts declined, which isn’t good for grabbing new readers.

  14. I don’t know why it matters to me either, but it does. I have no words of wisdom because I can’t figure out how some of my least favorite posts get tons of comments and my self-proclaimed brilliant ones are avoided! Good thing this gig isn’t life or death.

  15. To be honest I find when I ‘try’ too hard I fail.
Just write what makes you happy, and your like minded fellow folk will follow!

Words of wisdom from an idiot, but hey.

  16. I opine that to get the business loans from creditors you ought to present a great motivation. However, one time I’ve got a secured loan, just because I wanted to buy a house.
