Well….
Where should I begin? It’s been over a month since my last post, and there’s been a lot and not much happening. I can’t even think back that far…..
Work is still going along ok. I haven’t quit, nor been asked to leave, so that’s good! I haven’t had a chance to catch up with friends lately, and have been trying to rectify that.
On the 8th of June, our region was struck by severe weather. 9 people lost their lives, including a family of 5. A friend of mine lost her nephew, when a tree fell on his ute, killing him more or less instantly. We had a coal ship run aground on Nobby’s beach, and 22 men had to be rescued by chopper in 90km/hr winds. My office began to leak in the torrential rain, the road flooded, and we were sent home. Darren spent a couple of days at Dungog, playing fireman and rescuing stranded residents. When he got back to Cessnock, I didn’t see him for days, as he worked virtually around the clock.
The weather since has been abysmal. I think we’ve had one fine day since then, the rest of the time it’s been rainy, stormy, windy and very, very cold. It’s been a case of the house being turned into a Chinese laundry, as we try to get our washing dry inside! However, we have been extremely lucky, in that our home did not suffer any damage. A great many people throughout the region have lost everything, so I’m fortunate to have a roof over my head and clothes to wash.
We’ve been to the movies a few times. We saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Shrek the Third and Bridge to Terabithia. They were all good movies, however Bridge would be my favourite of the three. I read the book many years ago, and from memory, the movie was pretty much in line with the novel. It was heart wrenching, and I bawled my eyes out!
I’ve just looked at the time, and realised I have to get ready for work. More later.

Yes, it was so incredibly sad for the loss of so many lives.
I want to see the Bridge to Terabithia and Shrek 3 and Pirates… I think they are all out on video now !I love a good movie to puddle up over.
